How do I search for footage?

There are 4 ways you can search for footage.

  1. Categories. Click on any of the 5 categories that most closely represent the footage you wish to look for. You may then browse through the selection, or refine your search using the refine tool at the top of the page.
  2. Location. Roll you mouse over an area of the map where you wish to find footage from. Once the most appropriate area is highlighted, click. You can then browse through the selection of clips from that area, or use the refine tool at the top of the page.
  3. Keyword search. Type in your query into the text box. Ensure you have spelt the word correctly. Keyword searches can be used to search many fields including subject, behaviour, location, shot type etc. If you do not come up with a result, try again using a synonym. For example, instead of “eating”, trying “feeding”.
  4. You can browse through your search results, or refine them by using the refine tool at the top of the page
  5. Advanced search. Using the advanced search tool, you can search for your chosen subject in many ways. You can fill in one or more details about the subject. If your search does not come up with any results, try reducing the number of search items.

I’m trying to find a specific animal, but I don’t understand the scientific names.

Our animals and plants are listed taxonomically. By rolling you mouse over the scientific group names, you should see the common names of the animals found within that group. If you cannot find the animal or plant you are looking for, try using a keyword search, or using our index.

Once I have the search results, how do I view individual clips?

Each clip is shown in preview mode using Flash, but can be viewed at higher resolution by clicking on the clip. The clip is played, and has the corresponding information displayed. You can also save the clip to your hard drive by clicking on the disk icon.

I can’t view the clip

You need to have Flash Media 10 player installed to play the clip. Please visit http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and install this software before viewing.
If the clip still does not play, please contact info@anhu.com.au and provide details of the clip that you are having trouble with.

I have seen clips similar to the footage I am after, but they aren’t quite right. Do you have more I can look at?

Yes. ANHU has an extensive library available that is not included on the website. We are happy to assist you by searching through our current footage. Should we find something suitable, we can send you a low res QT version of the clip. Research fees may apply.

Downloading low resolution clips

I like this clip – how can I see if it works in my edit?

In order to download low resolution Quicktime files for editing, you must first register. Once you have registered, you can log in to the site. To download a QT version of the clip, click on the disk icon on the RHS of the Clip Details screen. A new window will open with the quicktime file. Right-click on the movie window and select “Save as QuickTime movie”. Once this is saved onto your hard drive, you can import it into your editing program.
Please note that the watermark, and in some cases the timecode, remains on all low res clips on the website.

I have downloaded the Quicktime file, but it won’t play.

Our clips are produced using H264. Please ensure your player has this codec installed.

This watermark is annoying – can I get a low res clip without it?

No, the watermark is included to protect the rights of ANHU and the filmmaker. Should you wish to use any clip in a production, please contact ANHU, and we will arrange for the HD clip to be delivered to you on tape.

Purchasing full resolution clips

I have selected the clips I want and now need the full quality version – how do I do this?

Please note the clip number and name of each clip, and send these details in an email to info@anhu.com.au. Please include a name, phone number, company name and postal address. Please specify whether you require the footage to be supplied HDcam or DVcam.
Please note that regardless of use of ANHU library clips in a final production, you will be charged postage, tape and master fees.

How will the footage arrive?

We can provide the master footage to you on tape (HDCam, Digibeta or DVcam) or as digital files on DVD. Short clips can also be transferred via FTP sites, or via YouSendIt.com, however we do not guarantee the speed of upload.

I want a digital file to be sent to me – what codecs do you operate in?

Our standard codecs are Avid DNx 185 or Apple Pro Res.

Our High Definition production is working at 29.97/59.94. Do you cater for that?

Yes  - at an additional cost, we can convert from our normal 1080 25P to 29.97P or 59.94i – contact us for a quote.

Our production is standard definition, but we want to use some clips. Is this footage available as standard definition?

Yes it is available on Digitbeta or DVCAM, or digitally as AVID or FCP files.

We are on a tight schedule and need the footage quickly. How long will it take to get the footage to us?

Currently, our library is held in Australia only. Please allow 3 working days for processing. Additionally, it currently takes 5 to 7 working days for tapes to be couriered (by Fed Ex, DHL etc) to major international centres such as London and Washington. We cannot guarantee delivery dates for any courier. We encourage you to order footage as early as possible to prevent any delays.
On occasion, short clips can be digitised and uploaded to an FTP server. Please note, however that ANHU does not hold an FTP server at this stage, and upload speeds can be variable. Please contact ANHU before choosing this method.

How much does the footage cost?

Please contact ANHU on info@anhu.com.au for a current pricing schedule of stock footage rates and mastering fees.
